In their August 6, 2007 edition, Sports Illustrated’s fantasy staff has Eagles wideout Reggie Brown ranked 47th among wide receivers, behind Ronald Curry, D.J. Hackett, and Vincent Jackson.
I think this ranking might be somewhat low.
In fact, the buzz at camp is that this could be a big year for Brown. Wideouts tend to take a large statistical leap in their third year, and Reggie Brown’s been pretty talented in his first two years in the league (he finished last year with 46 catches for 17.7 yards per reception and 9 TDs). He’s good after the catch and scores touchdowns. Also, 5 likes him a lot. That’s a very positive thing. I mean, we can amp down the Marvin Harrison talk, but still, Brown is a baller.
Consider me on the record in re: “Reggie Brown will absolutely, no-doubt, mortal-lock be better than the 47th-best WR in the NFL this year.”
(Mercifully, Don Banks redeemed the fantasy gurus at SI with an extremely positive camp postcard about the Birds — which even included some kind remarks about the team’s depth. That feels good.)

Not that there isn’t improvement from season 2 to season 3, but that there’s not typically a big step change (in fact, the improvement from season 1 to season 2 is actually greater).

This is important, as we’ll be doing an imaginary football draft together.
